Home & About Us

There was a young high school student and he longed to one day own his own business. What kind? He didn’t know, but whatever it was he knew it would be exciting! His high school guidance counselor spoke words that would haunt him for many years. She said, “Josh, I have spoken with thousands of students during my career as a guidance counselor and many of them have a clear path. They have one interest and one thing that they do well. When they graduate that’s what they do. But you have a problem they don’t have. You’re too smart. You have many options available to you. Whatever you decide to do you have the capacity and skill to excel. So how will you choose?”
Upon graduation he started down the traditional route of college. Josh considered going into a rare field called ethnomusicology. Missionaries travel to other countries and cultures and then take Western/American songs and simply translate the words to use in their church services. An ethnomusicologist would study the local music and culture and assist the missionary in providing culturally familiar sounds, instruments, and music that could be their own. The reality of pursuing something that very few people had ever heard of was daunting and didn’t seem wise or prudent. As it goes with so many things, life has a way of throwing you a curve ball.
The uncertainty of that path and the tremendous expense of the small private college weighed heavily on Josh and he decided to withdraw. The words of his counselor – whatever he decides to do he could excel, but how will he choose – echoed in his mind. He took correspondence courses for a couple of years until the University began “misplacing” entire courses and causing problems for students who had completed work, but were ineligible for graduation because of poor record keeping. The school temporarily stopped any new classes from starting while they brought in a new administrator to clean things up.

Though more than 5 years had passed since high school graduation, that question about choosing what do was still at the front of his mind. Meanwhile, Josh began selling insurance and studying to become a financial planner. The company he had began working for during this licensure process closed the local office 2 months after he started. Over the next several years he struggled to achieve the level of success he wanted in the insurance business. The long days, time spent on the road, the feast or famine income made him seriously question whether this was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.

In his spare time, Josh enjoyed building websites. He began to take as many online classes as he could fit into his schedule and really begin to study and learn about web design. Big bonus check? Went directly into another class. After spending thousands of dollars and teaching himself how to build websites he began to think about starting a web design company. The plan was to continue working as the District Manager for the current insurance company because he would be fully vested after 3 years and would continue to receive a monthly income as long as those policies remained in effect. That would be the ideal time to leave and start a new business. Josh also returned to college and finished his degree, obtaining a B.S. in Business Management. Unfortunately, the insurance company decided to fire him 2 months before being full vested so he would not get a single penny of the business he built over the past nearly 3 years.

It was sink or swim time. Within a couple of weeks Josh had landed his first client in the fall of 2009 and on January 7th, 2010 at 1:28pm Click2Grow was officially born when papers were filed. Since then Josh has grown his business by helping grow the business of others. He has expanded his team and services and now offers web design & hosting, logo design, SEO, and online marketing services.
